Once again this annual event was great fun despite the weather being absolutely appalling. Our team of runners joined the other 6,000 for the 11.00 start in freezing cold rain. Fortunately by the time the turquoise t-shirts of The Sophie Cameron Trust returned to Great Pulteney Street, the spring sunshine had appeared.
We were extremely grateful for the support of First Bath Bus Tour for donating their bus for the team to leave their belongings and have a hot drink after the race.
Congratulations to everyone who completed the wet circuit. Our first participant to pass the finishing line in 1h21 was Zoe Tucker, followed by Sandy Burgon in 1h36. Needless to say, the rest of us took a little longer, arriving back around the 2 hour mark. Kingswood 6th form pupils again supported us with a great group of runners including Jonathon Phelps and Richard Howlett dressed as the Batman and Robin team. They looked fantastic and carried a bucket for our Trust around the whole circuit. Other runners travelled from around to UK to join us and Pascale Davis, although resident in France, flew in from San Francisco early on the morning of the race to join in.

This year there was a delay in sending out the race numbers which was obviously beyond our control, but we would be grateful for any suggestions on how we could improve our own administration of the SCT team. Would a team run organised a fortnight before the event be a good idea for everyone to meet each other and hand out t-shirts? Should we organise an official team meal after the run? What are your thoughts? Please write to mail@thesophiecamerontrust.org.uk
We recognise how fortunate we are to have this continued support and are hoping to raise in the region of £8,000. Many participants indicated interest in running again in 2005 on March 20th and we have already put in place the facility to register on-line.
